Violeta Gevorgianienė

Professor at the Institute of Sociology and Social Work, Vilnius University.

Violeta’s background is in special education and social work. Her research interests include: dignity and empowerement of persons with disabilities, innovative research methods with involvement of marginalized persons, social ecology and aspects of migration. She has worked for the Executive Committee of the European Association of Social Work Schools for eight years, and is currently head of the Social Work Master‘s Programme at the Department of Social Work and Social Welfare. In terms motherhood research, she is interested in marginalized mothers: their experience, their perceptions of what good mothering is and the strategies they use to claim their dignity.
